2024 Annual Meeting

The Hampshire Area Annual Meeting will be held at the Happy Cheese, Ashurst.

Arrive at 6.30 for the meeting to start at 7pm.

Food available to order on arrival, we will have a break in the meeting at 8pm for food and then the meeting will continue. Alternatively, if you prefer to eat earlier, you can book a table before the meeting and join us for the 7pm start.

Halloween Fancy Dress Drive

The fancy dress treasure hunt returns to Greyswood Carriage Driving Centre for Halloween 2024!

This fun event consists of a treasure hunt, interval drive with the first turnout starting at 11, and returning to the farm for lunch... all in fancy dress!

£10 per turnout and please advise how many are coming so we can cater for lunch.

Payment by BACS or cheque made out to 'Driving Society'

Summer Kids Camp

Friday 9th to Sunday 11th August. To arrive from 2pm on Friday afternoon and leave at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.
Lots of carriage driving activities on our various schoolmasters with lots of fun and games too!
This year's theme is medieval!! There will be a party on Saturday night, lots of goodies to take home (sweets, rosettes, trophies, etc.)

We have 3 BDS Approved Instructors on site, fully qualified riding instructor and several other officials who are all DBS checked and trained in First Aid.

We have some very generous sponsors for this event so the total cost of the weekend is £60 per child to cover their BDS membership fee, or £40 if they are already members.

Bisterne Mannor Drive

By kind permission of Hallam and .... Mills we return to Bisterne Manor for an interval drive through the picturesque Bisterne Estate and return for a picnic in view of the main house.

The first turnout will head out on the drive at (time TBC) and then at 5-minute intervals.

POSTPONED: Groom/Backstepper Training

9.30-12.30pm
At Grayswood Carriage Driving Centre, £10 per person.

Come and learn how to be a backstepper/groom.
We will go over how vital your role is, what you need to do, both off road and on the road, parts of the harness, etc.

This is invaluable to anyone who thinks about riding on a carriage.

Spider Drive to Burley Outer Rails

By Kind invitation of Tracey & Ian Thew. Arrive by 12noon. There will be soup and rolls for £10 per person, payable when you arrive.

Attelage de Tradition

Evening presentation by Rosemary Neale, for members and non members.

The attelage competition is designed to promote the use of pre-1945 design traditional style carriages, both private and trade, and to reflect the skills and heritage of the driving of harness horses and ponies.

The Event includes classes for singles, pairs, tandems, multiples and 4-in-hand in a traditionally built carriage. These events are found in 14 countries across the world in over 72 locations.

As we are holding our own attelage in the south this year at the New Forest Showground on 14th and 15th September, Rosemary Neale has very kindly offered to come down and explain how the event works, the different stages, what is expected of you and how you can get involved so please do come and join us and find out about the wonderful world of traditional carriage driving.

Spider Drive to the Red Shoot

Spider drive to arrive a the Red Shoot, Linwood by 12noon.
Any food ordered but cancelled on the day will have to be paid for.

Summer Camp 2023

Please arrive from 2pm on Friday.

Friday night there will be a "meet and greet" with food and entertainment throughout the evening.

Saturday will consist of our famous Treasure Hunt around the farm in the morning followed by dressage and cones in the afternoon.

Saturday evening there will be food lots of fun and games!!!!
Sunday we will have a long reining competition, followed by the Trec obstacles.
The weekend is finished with afternoon tea and presentation of prizes.
