The Forestry Commission have asked for a Risk Assessment for Driving Weekend this year, but in fact, it applies to all the BDS Drives in the Forest for the period Monday, 23rd to Sunday, 29th September. We are obliged by this Risk Assessment that all participants have ready access to both the assessed risk (available <HERE>) and to the BDS Safety Guidelines, which have been available <HERE> since 2017. The Area would be grateful if all participants would make time available to scrutinise both documents before the drives.

In Particular, the Safety Guidelines require an able groom(s) to be with the turnout in order to control the horse(s) by their head whenever the driver mounts or dismounts. Violation of this guideline invalidates the driver's own insurance. More significantly, if the Drive Organiser knowingly allows this to happen without resolving the violation, the insurances of all participants become invalid.

Due to circumstances beyond our control concerning the catering for the Saturday evening social, there are now meal choices to be made. Please download this new form, and discard any copies you may already have downloaded of the previous form. Thank you.

This year's Summer Driving Camp was so successful that we are doing it all again next year! The date is 10th – 12th July 2020, and if you think you may like to come, please call Sam Searle on 07883 538591 asap to register your interest.

Hampshire BDS supports several Charity Organisations, mainly through collections at drives, but also from raffles, such as at the Area Show where a percentage of the money raised is donated to the Driving for the Disabled Association.
Terry Newman collects for Naomi House Children’s Hospice from his New Year’s Day and Bluebell Drives, and Georgina Burrows organises the West Wellow Friends of Cancer Research for the Anderwood BBQ Drive and Beaulieu Road in September.
Sally Edgar sent the following message: ‘I presented a cheque to the Princess Anne neonatal unit a while back for £1,000.00 which was on behalf of Lymington Growmore Club. When I did my Spider Drive last year , the collection was for the neonatal unit , we raised £96.00 , so I gave them a cheque on behalf of the BDS ... a very worthy cause I think , they were delighted. Grateful thanks to all the BDS members who contributed’.
We also donated to the British Animal Rescue and Trauma Care Association after the talk by co-founder Jim Green in March organised by Sue Kennedy, and we support the Air Ambulance whenever we can.
A big thank you to everyone for your continued generosity.
