Itís with a sad heart that I have to announce the shocking news that our dear friends Tony and Pam Truder sadly passed away within four days of each other in February 2019, just a few days before celebrating their 62nd Wedding Anniversary.

Pam and Tony joined the BDS in the 1970ís following a visit to the New Forest and like so many before them, instantly fell in love with the stunning surroundings.  Tony loved driving through the Forest with his horse Woody, and later Tommy, and friends.  He always said how much he enjoyed the Spring as it came to life with its abundance of wildlife such as deer, pigs, ponies, reptiles and birds along with the flowering gorse bushes, heather, and wildflowers carpeting the open heath and the atmospheric ancient woodlands. Upon returning to their yard after a drive, Pam was always waiting with a warm welcome, a nice cup of tea and biscuits and many hours were spent chatting, laughing and storytelling.

Pam and Tony both loved to socialise; the New Forest Show and the September Driving Week were a highlight in their social calendar where they would take part in all the drives as well as entertain and host events with family and friends from near and far.  They were great supporters of the BDS and sponsored many events such as Spider Drives to their yard in Brockenhurst where they served hot chilli or chicken curry, and these are days we will remember fondly.

Last year Pam and Tony sponsored a beautiful glass vase to be awarded to a member of the Hampshire Area who had contributed the most to the BDS.

In recent years Tony groomed for John Redman and they were both very proud to have been featured on the front cover of the Carriage Driving Magazine during the Queens Jubilee Drive with Tonyís horse Tommy.

Pam and Tony will both be truly missed by us and many others, however the memories we shared with them will be with us forever.
